The lives of three Jamaican women, each with her unique ties to America are spun into an engrossing tangled web of lies, infidelity, deceit and abuse...

About the Author:
Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Sandra A. Ottey is a naturalized American. She earned a B.S. degree in Business from Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York, and a M.S. degree in Management from Polytechnic University.

Jamerican Connection, published by iUniverse.com, is Miss Ottey's debut novel.  She wrote this three-plot story as an inspiration to high school and college dropouts to pick themselves up, dust themselves off, and go on to achieve their deferred educational goals and stunted career ambitions, despite life's many obstacles; because dropping out of school is a "mistake," but definitely not a "dead-end."

Sandra Ottey currently lives in Queens, has a full-time job in Manhattan, and is also working on her second novel, "Mother, O Mother."  Besides, reading and writing her hobbies are traveling, listening to all types of music, but most importantly, spending time with her daughter, Sara, who presently lives in London.

Synopsis:
Set in the cool-cool hills of Mandeville, Jamaica; and Brooklyn, New York, "JAMERICAN CONNECTION: A NOVEL" is inspiration to abused women; comfort to families and relationships that have been disrupted by immigration; and encouragement to high school and college dropouts to realize that dropping out of school is a "mistake" but definitely not a "dead-end."

Rose Thorn, a high school dropout trapped in an infidelity and violence-infested marriage, fights to claim her right to get back on track to realize the deferred dreams and stunted ambitions she was forced to put on hold when she dropped out of school during her senior year.

Laverne Fine, a talented cosmetologist, struggles to unearth her lover, Paul's family secrets; but Paul's Brooklyn-based mother is determined to keep them buried.

Wendy Arnold, a highly respected Brooklyn-based college professor, crumples under the obstacles of her long-distance relationship with her Jamaica-based high school sweetheart, Miles.

The lives of these three Jamaican women, each with her unique ties to America, are spun into an engrossing, tangled web of deceit, lies, infidelity, and spousal physical and psychological abuse.  Long distance relationships are tried and tested.  The advantages of immigration are measured against the disadvantages.  The pages flare with memorable characters and dramatic twists and turns.  "Jamerican Connection" grabs you from the first sentence; keeps you engrossed until the very end, and leaves the characters lingering in your mind...
