Judy C.
Andrews is a high school teacher in Brooklyn. She received
a Master of Arts degree in creative writing from The City
College of New York. She has worked as an editor and
freelance writer as well as an advocate for The Children’s
Advisory Panel for the International Year of the Child under
the leadership of former president Jimmy Carter. She is a
member of The Harlem Writers Guild, which is responsible for
helping to publish some of the most outstanding writers of
our time. A survivor of the New York City foster care
system, her wish is to inspire and uplift children as well
as adults of foster care through her writing.
An
Ocean of Jewels also
explores the delicate beauty of the Gullah/Geechee culture
that embraces the more than one thousand Sea Islands that
surround the coasts of South Carolina, Georgia, and
Florida.
